You are Invited to the Upcoming DCWPA Events!

The DCWPA will be offering a wide array of interesting performances this semester, ranging from music recitals and award-winning guest artists to tumbling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland! The Judson community is invited to attend these exciting opportunities to support our students as well as experience enriching performances by guest artists. Upcoming events in March and early April will include the following:

AhHae Song, Piano | Master of Arts in Community Music Degree Recital | Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m.inThulin Auditorium | Thompson Hall. AhHae is an accomplished pianist having completed a performance certificate at Judson, both a Master’s degree and a performance certificate from NIU, and is now completing a second Master’s here at Judson!

Judson University Choir Home Concert | Sunday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel | Free-will Offering. Come and worship with the Choir as they share the music they performed on their tours this semester.

Guest Artist: Blaise Magnière, Violin | March 27, 2024, at 7 p.m.in Thulin Auditorium | Thompson Hall.  French violinist Blaise Magnière is a highly acclaimed musician who is currently teaching at NIU. Praised for his “virtuosic skill” (Stage and Cinema), “poised expression” and “sweet, refined tone” (Chicago Classical Review), he will perform sonatas by J.S. Bach and Béla Bartók, and one of his own compositions entitled Music will not save the world (2024).  He is the first violinist of The Avalon Quartet, an award-winning chamber ensemble.

Merit Recital | Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. inThulin Auditorium | Thompson Hall. This special recital features students who were selected to perform by a jury of our music professors. Students featured this spring are: Jade Bundhund (voice), Katelynn Clinton (piano and voice), Hana Cunningham (voice), Giovanna Diaz (voice), John Francis (voice), Katie Garee (voice), Grace Kraidich (voice), Kayleigh Mackintosh (voice), Jack Sanders (snare), and a trio consisting of Ryan Gan (viola), Lexie Sanders (cello), and Matt Hamon (piano). A free-will offering will be collected to assist with expenses of the Jamaica Choir Tour this May.

Eunoia Theater Ensemble – Best of Broadway |Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m. in Thulin Auditorium | Thompson Hall. Back by popular demand, this will be the third time students Hana Cunningham, Hannah Ezzy, Katie Garee, and Cara Haugh will sing favorite tunes, this time from Broadway shows.  Grad student Tiger Khokunthod is the director of this fun theater ensemble.

Saturday, April 6, at 6 p.m. in Herrick Chapel. Grad student Tiger’s final project for the Master of Arts in Community Music degree is to host a roundtable consisting of various local theater companies to explore ways they can support one another and collaborate together.

University Choir Fundraising Concert with Rev. Dr. Huntley Brown | Sunday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elgin (1735 W. Highland Avenue, Elgin, IL). The Choir is raising funds to travel to alum Huntley Brown’s native country of Jamaica this May. Come hear the rousing collaboration of Huntley’s exhilarating piano playing and the voices of the University Choir!

Judson Theatre presents… Alice in Wonderland | Thursday, April 11 – Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. | Saturday, April 13 Matinee at 3 p.m.| in Thulin Auditorium | Thompson Hall | Tickets at the door or online at bit.ly/JUWonderland.  JU Theatre Director Melissa Hoegh and cast will be taking the audience on a wild adventure down the rabbit hole to Wonderland!
