Nominations for 2024/25 Student Laureate

Each fall, an outstanding senior from each of the four-year degree-granting institutions of higher learning in Illinois is awarded the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award and thereby becomes a Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

In the spirit of Abraham Lincoln, Students Laureates are honored for their leadership and service on campus and beyond in the pursuit of the betterment of humanity, and for overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities. As you consider a deserving student who demonstrates strong leadership aptitude, please consider the characteristics of Abraham Lincoln that made him someone who inspired and transformed the world for generations: integrity, courage, honesty and empathy. Nominations for Judson University’s 2024/25 Student Laureate are being accepted at this time.

Since only one nomination per academic program will be accepted, please take the time through staff and/or committee meetings to review and nominate students that are a good representation of Judson standards.  Nominations need to be in the form of a letter or a memo, no more than 2 pages long.  Faculty may forward their nominations to Vice President for Academic Affairs Lanette Poteete-Young while staff may forward their nominations to their appropriate University Cabinet member.   The VP for Academic Affairs and University Cabinet members may forward as many nominations as they feel are appropriate to Cheryl Krup in the President’s Office.

The deadline to receive nominations will be Friday, April 12.
