Nominate a Senior for the 2023-24 Student Laureate

Each fall, an outstanding senior from each of the four-year degree-granting institutions of higher learning in Illinois is awarded the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award and thereby becomes a Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois.  In the spirit of Abraham Lincoln, Students Laureates are honored for their leadership and service on campus and beyond in the pursuit of the betterment of humanity, and for overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.

Faculty and staff are invited to nominate a student for this award. As you consider a deserving student who demonstrates strong leadership aptitude, please consider the characteristics of Abraham Lincoln that made him someone who inspired and transformed the world for generations: integrity, courage, honesty and empathy. Nominations for Judson University’s 2023/24 Student Laureate are being accepted at this time since the organizing group has a spring deadline.

Since only one nomination per academic program will be accepted, please take the time through staff and/or committee meetings to review and nominate students who are a good representation of Judson standards.  Nominations must be in the form of a letter or memo emphasizing your nominee’s honors and leadership activities on campus and/or in the community.  Faculty may forward their nominations to Associate Provost Lanette Poteete-Young while staff may forward their nominations to their appropriate University Cabinet member.   The Associate Provost and University Cabinet members may forward as many nominations as they feel are appropriate to Cheryl Krup in the President’s Office.
