On November 8, Judson will celebrate National First-Generation Day to recognize students where neither parent graduated from a college or university. Serving first-generation students is not something new to Judson. Thirty-nine percent of our fall 2022 new student population have declared First-Generation status.
As part of our celebration on November 8, Judson is excited to announce the new Slawek Family First-Generation Scholars Program to support our first-generation college students. Thanks to a generous donation from Joe and Mary Slawek through the Slawek Family Charitable Fund, Judson will create the Slawek Scholars Program, which will provide scholars with mentors, leadership opportunities, participation in the World Leaders Forum events, business etiquette training, and dedicated support to both the student and the families as they navigate higher education. The Slawek Scholars program will also emphasize Joe Slawek’s 10 principles for business and life.
Luncheon Celebration
On Tuesday, November 8, Judson’s First-Gen community is invited to participate in the first faculty, staff, and student first-generation lunch celebration in the cafeteria to encourage these dedicated students on their journey. Please RSVP to Vice President Ginny Guth by noon on Monday, November 7, and join the dedicated tables in the cafeteria for discussion and networking.
First-Gen Student Union Meeting
First-Gen students are encouraged to participate in the new First-Gen Student Union on November 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Reed Room for good food, games, and raffles. This will be the first-ever meeting of Judson’s new First-Gen Student Union.
