Judson University Women’s Soccer program learned of three weekly honors from this past week as Kelly Leon was named NCCAA and CCAC offensive player of the week, while Morgan Olsen was the CCAC defensive player of the week.
Leon had a career day on Saturday to net CCAC Offensive Player of the Week accord. The sophomore midfielder recorded a hat trick and also provided two assists in an 8-0 victory over Governors State University. She was also a perfect 3-for-3 in her shots-on-goal accuracy.
Earlier in the week, Leon was credited with one assist in the Eagles’ 3-1 nod over Lawrence Technological Institute (Mich.). That gave her three goals and three assists for a total of nine points over the two matches.
“Kelly Leon returns for her sophomore reason after having a wonderful freshman year racking up All American and Freshman of the Year awards,” said Head Coach Diego Cevallos. “She is fantastic for us and just a pleasure to watch on the field. Her hard work continues to be noticed!”
Olsen, meanwhile, allowed just one goal over the two matches en route to CCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The senior goalkeeper saved six shots between the two matches, topped by her four saves in the win over Lawrence Tech last Monday.
Olsen stopped another two shots in Saturday’s conference win to notch her first shutout of the season.
“We are thrilled to have Morgan Olsen lead us her senior season and produce complete performances like last Saturday,” said Cevallos. “This is why we brought her to our program because we believe in her and trust she can help us win results. Very proud of her resiliency and work ethic and professionalism on and off the field.”
Judson returns to action on Wednesday when they face Holy Cross in Notre Dame, Indiana.
