Judson University is pleased to announce the construction of a new artificial turf and track complex at the current Dawson Field (university soccer field). This will provide a home competitive and practice complex for the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams. The new space will also serve as a practice complex for the Football and Track and Field Teams. This complex will directly accommodate over 200 scholar-athletes and will serve as an alternative practice and training space for other intercollegiate athletic programs. Recreational use and external rentals will also be available on the complex.
“The University is very excited to open this new complex. Our number of scholar-athletes continues to grow as does our competitive success,” said Dr. Nikki Fennern, Judson executive vice president. “This new complex will be a beautiful addition to the campus and will give our current scholar-athletes a facility conducive to further advancing competitive success while also assisting in recruiting talented prospective scholar-athletes.”
The fall athletic programs experienced unprecedented success and growth this year. This includes a women’s soccer conference championship and NAIA National Tournament berth, men’s soccer finishing second in the NCCAA National Tournament, women’s volleyball finishing in the top four of the NCCAA National Tournament, women’s golf finishing fifth in the NCCAA National Meet, and women’s and men’s cross country finishing third and fifth respectively in the NCCAA National Meet. In its inaugural season, football finished fourth in their division of the conference and achieved a 4-7 record – better than other first-year college football programs around the country.
Planning for the artificial turf and track complex is underway with a groundbreaking planned for early in the spring semester. Construction will begin in late April or early May.
