For the first time, the Judson University Women’s Golf Team has earned an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament in Palm Coast, Fla., from October 18-20. Judson finished second among NCCAA Teams at its regional championship event on September 13-14, shooting at 690. Brighton Young won the event as an individual with a 149 (74-75) total score. She had qualified as an individual for the event but now will have all her teammates join her in Florida. Grace Haakenson also was a top-10 finisher, with a 160 (78-82) which put her in a tie for sixth.
“What an amazing opportunity for the girls to get an at large bid to Nationals,” said Head Coach John Wedell. “Brighton Young’s great play this fall has not only helped the team scoring overall but has helped motivate and elevate the other girls around her to play better as well. Case-in-point for Grace Haakenson as she has had her best scoring season ever for us! That says a lot as she’s a three-time National qualifier herself. We’re excited to get to Florida and represent Judson the best we can.”
Judson has built a tradition of sending athletes to compete at this tournament. The Eagles have sent numerous individual athletes to compete in recent years, and the men’s team earned a berth last year after winning the North Central Region Championship. The Judson University Athletic Department congratulates the Women’s Golf Team on this outstanding honor!
