As has been the case with many of everyone’s best laid plans for 2021, Global Outreach has postponed its annual Spring Break service trip to Belize. The Jamaica and Dominican Republic trips have also been postponed. At this time, Judson’s South Dakota will proceed for May. The Women’s Volleyball trip to Nicaragua, which is planned to take place in July, will be announced in the future. The Costa Rica trip (Women’s Soccer Team) has been moved to December 2021.
Belize Team Donates Funds
Nearly all of the 2021 Belize Team indicated they will be able to go to San Antonio in March 2022. The Belize Team was greatly disappointed that they were unable to physically help their friends this year in the village. As a result, the team met and decided to raise funds for the community kitchen that the team was scheduled to construct in our partner church. The team sold 532 Nothing Bundt Cakes across the campus the Friday before Valentine’s Day. Several Judson (Belize trip) alumni donated money to send to the village and a few of this year’s participants also raised over $1,000 in donations. When it was all said and done, the Belize Team is sending nearly $4,000 to build out the new community kitchen.
Our mission to serve together to advance Jesus’ influence and love to the under resourced could not be stopped by a global pandemic. The Belize Team was able to bless the village with a substantial financial gift that will make a long-term spiritual (and practical) difference in the village. The Belize Team will travel to the Embassy of Belize in Chicago this March to celebrate our global partnership.
