Getting Ready for Global Outreach Trips

Please pray for traveling mercies for the three Global Outreach Teams who are preparing for their spring break service trips.  A team of 19 students, alumni and staff are departing on Friday, February 28 for San Antonio Rio Hondo, Belize.  The Belize Team will be teaching in the local elementary school, training school teachers, leading Vacation Bible School and installing fencing around the church property.  Coach Rafa Heck, Dani Isaza from the men’s soccer team and the rest of the Belize team will also lead a teen soccer clinic, teaching soccer and leadership skills to the local youth and presenting them with certificates at the Sunday evening church service.

On Saturday, February 29, the Dominican Republic and Scotland teams will depart.  The DR team of eight is continuing our partnership with Del Camino Connection and serving churches in the historic colonial city of Santo Domingo.  The team will help serve the homeless, their friends from the streets and the vulnerable elderly.  The ICC Church is spearheading a movement to provide education for special needs children and our team will assist with building improvements.  The team will also help lead outreach activities for children and youth from the community.

The Scotland team is pioneering our new partnership with The Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh.  This team of 13 will serve in the Centre alongside their existing services of dementia care, daycare provision, foot care service and a community café.  The team will also have the exciting opportunity to help brainstorm and plan for the Olympic Celebration 2024 where Eric Liddell will be honored for winning the gold medal in the 1924 Olympics.  The 1981 movie, Chariots of Fire, tells the story of Eric Liddell, a devout Christian born to Scottish missionaries in China who saw running as part of his worship of God.
