Congratulations to Sarah Jenkins for winning the top prize for the Fall 2019 Communication Arts Conference. Sarah won a scholarship award of $2,045, for her paper on “Dante and the Construction of Hell.” The professors commend her for outstanding research and presentation skills.
Judson will award $8,000 in scholarship prizes at the Spring 2020 conference. The award money comes from an endowed fund established in honor of Dr. Stuart A. Ryder, a beloved Judson professor and leader of the original Communication Arts program, whom some of you met at the conference. The donor for the fund is David McFadzean, a former Judson professor who is now a Hollywood writer and producer, most famous for his work as the co-creator of “Home Improvement” and as a writer for the original “Roseanne.”
In the spring, we will also invite submissions to the university writing awards. There are two categories: Creative Writing (poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction) and Scholarly Writing (research papers, academic essays), with a cash prize of $100 each.
