Help Needed to Better Serve Our International Students

Once again, we have new international students coming in August! Let’s welcome them well!

Would you help Judson serve these students better? These students are far from home and some have limited resources. Here are some needs and ways you can help the university serve them:

Welcome basket: Every year we provide a laundry basket with bedding, towels, hangers, etc for them. Would you, your department or group of friends be interested in “sponsoring” as basket? (Approximately $40-50 per basket is needed and we will purchase the necessary items.)

Holiday meals for students: Many of our students can’t go home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter. Would you be able to have a student or small group of students join you and your family for one of these?

Housing over Christmas break: Our dorms close down for two weeks over break. Most students either go home or find somewhere to go, but we always have a few that have nowhere to stay or are forced to pay premium dollar for a ticket home. Do any of you have (or do you know of someone who has) a spare room that an international student could stay in?

Urgent Need NowGrad student with two kids: We have a single mom with two kids (8 and 11) coming for grad school in August and needs somewhere to stay while she figures out housing, which is very difficult for her to do from Uganda! This could be for a week to two months. If you or someone you know has a couple of rooms they could stay in while she finds housing and a vehicle, that would be wonderful.

If you are interested in helping out with any of the above needs, please email Joy Krispin ([email protected]), International Programs Coordinator and PDSO.
